Release Notes v8.14

Features added and bugs fixed in this release:

  • Ascend Aircraft Class
  • Serial number data in Excel exports incorrectly formatted

Ascend Aircraft Class

The Aircraft Class filter option that is available in Ascend Fleets has now been made available in Fleets Analyzer. In addition to adding the filter, this is also available as a grouping option. The Ascend Aircraft Class differs from the existing Fleets Analyzer Market Grouping in that Fleets Analyzer defines the classifications down to sub-series level, whereas Ascend is less granular (down to Type level). Although the Fleets Analyzer solution is superior, there are many uses still dependent upon the Ascend version. For that reason, this feature has been added to Fleets Analyzer. Continue reading “”

Revising the Airbus A330 taxonomy

The commercial aviation data research team have recently finished revising the Airbus A330 series structure which will enable customers to filter this data by master series, series and sub series, particularly the A330-200E/X and 300E/X models.

The screenshot below taken from Fleets Analyzer shows that customers are now able to filter right down to the sub series of the A330 type. In the case shown below the A330-200E sub series which is part of the A330-200 master series.

How-To videos

For those who are new to Fleets Analyzer, or those who would like to understand the product better, there are a series of short (2-4 mins each) YouTube videos that explain some of the most useful features. There are 11 videos so far, and the total running time is around 30 mins.

We will continue to add videos as new features are released.

An update on the status of the Paris 2017 orders

All Airbus and Boeing firm orders announced at the 2017 Paris air show have been checked by our data team and compared against OEM data.

Boeing

The latest Boeing weekly online update was for the week ending 27th June, where there were no further updates. Paris firm orders were recorded the week ending Sunday 25th June in Fleets Analyzer and Ascend Fleet databases.

The June monthly Airbus & Boeing Market status reports will be supplied to us over the coming week. We expect Boeing to formally announce the large amount of 737 MAX conversions to the -MAX 10. At this time, we do not currently show MAX 7/8/9 to MAX 10 conversions within Fleets Analyzer and Ascend Fleets until officially confirmed.

Airbus

We are expecting confirmation on the Airbus order book post-Paris shortly (3-10th July).

All other OEM’s are up to date.

In summary, we estimate that all data in Fleets Analyzer and Ascend Fleets (including type and series conversions) will reflect the Paris Order announcements + recent delivery status by Wednesday 12th July.

Looking for the original owner of aircraft

During one of our training sessions at the recent Paris air show, we had a request to bring in “original owner” as a field, in the same way that we have “original operator”. Original operator is a field that was brought into Fleets Analyzer as it was available in our legacy products and is often used by customers. There are nine different company roles that can link a company to a specific aircraft, and operator is just one. Although original owner cannot be added in the same way as original operator, it can still be found (as could original manager etc.).

737 Max 10

In line with Boeing’s launch of the 737 Max 10, we have created a new sub series (and master series). Any new order announcements, as well as any model changes, will show under the “new” Max 10 sub series.

Release Notes v8.12

Features added during this release:

  • Aircraft Base Location
  • Minor Variant added to aircraft profile history grid

Aircraft base location is described in a separate article.

Minor Variant added to aircraft profile history grid

On the History tab of individual aircraft profiles, we’ve added the Minor Variant column to the grid, so that you can see any changes to the minor variant caused by individual events within an aircraft’s history.

Aircraft Base Location

Based on requests from customers, we are pleased to announce we have released individual aircraft base locations for our business aviation and helicopter data sets.

This new data point is based upon the airport or helipad where the individual aircraft is most frequently known to be operating. We have built and researched this data by speaking to operators and OEMs, using flight tracking software, and monitoring enthusiast sources. Continue reading “”

How we have improved the Export capability in Fleets Analyzer

Exporting data is a key feature of any data tool, and this is true of Fleets Analyzer. When we designed the export feature we increased (compared to previous products) the limit on the number of exportable rows to 100,000 and placed no limit on the number of columns. We also made sure that the exported Excel file is an exact copy of the results grid, including the column order.

What we didn’t have access to when designing the export solution for Fleets Analyser was data on the export habits of users of our previous products (ACAS and ASO Fleets). It’s clear now that we underestimated the frequency with which Fleets Analyzer users export data, and also the size of those exports. Continue reading “”
