Viewing sanctioned aircraft in Fleets Analyzer
As described in a recent post, we’ve added three new aircraft events which are related to aircraft affected by the sanctions imposed on Russia. The three new events are:
Leasing Suspended – Government Action
This event is used to indicate where a lease termination notice has likely been issued by a lessor in line with international sanctions and when the aircraft continues to be in operational service at the time of the notice being issued. Due to the uncertain state of the lease, the operator and owner are not changed until more information becomes known about the lease, which would then result in the aircraft being updated with an event continuing the lease or a termination of the lease.
Leasing Suspended – Government Action – parked
This event is used to indicate where a lease termination notice has likely been issued by a lessor in line with international sanctions and when the aircraft is in storage at the time of the notice being issued. Again, due to the uncertain state of the lease, the operator and owner are not changed until more information becomes known about the lease, which would then result in the aircraft being updated with an event continuing the lease or a termination of the lease.
Lease Terminated – parked
This event is used when a lease has been terminated by a lessor due to unforeseen or unplanned circumstances around the lease, such as international sanctions. The aircraft is shown as returned to the lessor and the ex-lessee removed from the operator field, in line with the termination notices that will likely have been issued by the lessor. This event will often follow ‘Leasing Suspended – Government Action’ events and indicates where termination notices are complied with. As with all our events, this event is used only where possible: in this case, when we have sufficient information to confirm a termination has occurred.
To view these events in Fleets Analyzer
Each of these new events is available as a filter via the ‘EVENTS/Detail Type’ filter, or by simply searching in the Quick Filter Search (QFS) for the event name.
The easiest way to see the events and the aircraft affected by the events is to use the new Cirium Saved Search titled ‘Aircraft affected by sanctions’. This can be found in the ‘Saved Searches’ section, under the ‘Shared by Cirium’ tab.
When you run this search, you’ll be taken to the Aircraft Events section, where you’ll see a list of the events along with the affected aircraft. You’ll also see the Operator, Manager and Status at the time of the event, and the Operator, Manager and status of the aircraft at today’s date. See Figure 1 as an example.
To get a clearer picture of the affected Operators and Lessors, navigate to the Aircraft section, where you’ll see the aircraft grouped by Operator and Manager, along with a count of the total number of affected aircraft. You can see an example of this in Figure 2. If the Operator field is occupied by a lessor, this indicates that the affected aircraft has been returned to the lessor.
It’s possible that this Cirium Saved Search might change (columns, groupings etc.) based on user feedback, so if you would like to keep this version, then please select ‘Save/Save As’ and save it to your personal saved searches.
