Release Notes v9.3

On Saturday 21 October we will be releasing v9.3 of Flight Fleets Analyzer. This release contains the following enhancements:

  • Knowledge Base notifications
  • Fleet number
  • Icons added to the homepage search fields

Knowledge Base notifications

Since its launch in May 2017, the Flight Fleets Analyzer Knowledge Base has become an important resource for users who wish to learn about and keep up to date with Flight Fleets Analyzer.  But, while meeting with users at MRO Europe recently, it became apparent that many users aren’t aware of the Knowledge Base. For this reason, we have taken the decision to alert users to new Knowledge Base articles when they access Flight Fleets Analyzer. Every time you access Flight Fleets Analyzer, if there have been new Knowledge Base articles published since your previous visit then you will be presented with a list of these articles on the right side of the homepage.

The decision to add these notifications was not taken lightly.  With notifications/messages, there is of course the threat of interruption to user’s workflow. But in this particular scenario there are a few factors that appear to justify the use of this type of notification:

  • The majority of our users have opted out of email communications
  • Each of the Knowledge Base articles is designed to educate and inform (the Knowledge Base will never be used to market or advertise other products)
  • New articles are typically only published once every two weeks

Early next year, when we update the black header bar, we will look again at how we notify users about new Knowledge Base articles.

Fleet number

Fleet number was available in ACAS, and now we’ve made it available in Flight Fleets Analyzer. You can find it in the following locations:

In search result grids

  • Aircraft Section, Detail tab
  • Aircraft Events Section, Detail tab
  • Accident Section, Detail tab
The new Fleet Number column as seen in the Aircraft Detail tab.

On aircraft profile pages

At the bottom of the right-hand column, as shown in the image below; if there is no fleet number, then no “Fleet number” heading or value will be shown.

In filters

A new filter will be available in the Age & Identification section via the Add Filter menu. The filter will be the same format as the registration numbers, serial numbers, line numbers, block numbers, FG ID and Order ID filters: single entry, or multiple CSV entries.

Icons added to the homepage search fields

In the previous release, we added a third search field on the homepage (Saved Search). During this release, we’ve made a small user-interface tweak to all three search fields, by adding icons to help users quickly distinguish between the different types of search.
