Release Notes v9.1

Features added in this release:

  • Order Accounting (Net, Gross, Cancellations)

Order Accounting (Net, Gross, Cancellations)

In this release, we have added three new trend metrics, all related to order accounting.

  • Gross orders (firm only)
  • Cancellations (of firm orders only)
  • Net orders (firm only)

All three metrics are available from the Trend tab within the aircraft and aircraft events sections.

Gross orders: The number of firm aircraft orders within a period
Cancellations: The number of cancellations of firm orders within a period
Net orders: Gross orders minus cancellations, within the same period

You can use these new metrics to analyse long-term industry trends, such as annual net orders for the 737 and A320 families, as shown in Figure 2. Alternatively, you can examine recent trends at a more granular level, such as the recent monthly Neo net orders, as shown in Figure 3.

Charting the new metrics in Excel

Flight Fleets Analyzer allows you to chart the same metric across multiple groups in Trend view, for example to compare net orders for A320s and 737s (as was shown in Figure 2). However, comparison of different metrics within the same group currently requires you to export the data and use third-party charting tools such as Microsoft Excel. Figure 4 shows the new metrics charted using Excel. In this example, we look at the net orders (purple line) and see how this metric was formed using gross orders and cancellations.
