Release Notes v10.8

On Wednesday 10 October we will be releasing the following enhancements:

  • Updated homepage
  • Relocated Exports

Updated homepage

The original Flight Fleets Analyzer homepage consisted of three key areas: the search widget, the messaging widget, and a group of six Saved Search widgets. Each of the Saved Search widgets contained up to five of the user’s most recently used Saved Searches, each specific to one of the six search sections within the product (eg, Aircraft, Maintenance, etc).

Why change?

There were a couple of key problems with the old design:

  • Most users create Saved Searches based on just a couple of search sections: eg, Aircraft and Aircraft Events, or Accidents and Deals. This meant that the other four Saved Search widgets were of little use.
  • There was no clear area on the homepage dedicated to helping users get the most out of the product.

The new homepage

The new homepage removes the six Saved Search widgets and replaces them with two new widgets: a ‘Getting started’ widget which contains resources designed to help users get the most out of Flight Fleets Analyzer, and a ‘Recently used Saved Searches’ widget.

Recently used Saved Searches

The ‘Recently used saved searches’ widget contains up to 10 of your most recently used saved searches, irrespective of the search section. If you typically use just a single search section of Flight Fleets Analyzer, you’ll now get to see up to 10 of your most recently used Saved Searches for that section directly on the homepage.

In a future release we’ll be adding the ability for users to ‘favourite’ a Saved Search. When we add this feature, we will then update the ‘Recently used Saved Searches’ widget with the option to limit the visible searches to ‘favorites’ only.

Getting started

For users who are new to Flight Fleets Analyzer, or who wish to keep up-to-date with the latest enhancements, then the ‘Getting started’ widget is the place to go. It includes:

  • A link to a new 6min video designed to give new users enough information to allow them to perform a basic search
  • A link to further videos that describe specific features
  • A link to the latest version of the user guide
  • A link to the Knowledge Base (aka the product blog)
  • A link to request product training
  • A link to contact the support team

Relocated Exports

In addition to the changes on the homepage, we also took this opportunity to move the Exports tab from the Saved Search page to the main navigation (the black bar that contains the search sections). Exports never sat well within the Saved Search area: after all, you don’t have to create a Saved Search in order to perform an export.
