New dataset: Fuel burn and CO2 emissions

We are pleased to announce the release of our new fuel burn and CO2 emissions add-on.

We calculate fuel burn and CO2 emissions by combining our satellite-based tracking capability with our fuel and emissions model. We currently provide fuel burn and CO2 emissions for ~98.8% of in-service regional, narrowbody and widebody jets (learn more).

Frequently asked questions

How can I access this new dataset?
Fuel burn and CO2 emissions is a Fleets Analyzer add-on. Please contact your Cirium account manager to enquire about getting access or to arrange a demonstration, or email Helpdesk at Cirum.com

What date range is covered?
Fuel burn and CO2 emissions data starts from Jan 2017. Only historical data is provided in Fleets Analyzer (if you are interested in forecasting emissions, please contact Helpdesk at Cirum.com and enquire about our Cirium Sky product).

When and how often is the data updated?
Fuel burn and CO2 emissions data is updated monthly, on the 5th of each month.

Which metrics are included?

  • Total Period Fuel Burn (t): The total amount of fuel burned during the period. Expressed in metric tonnes
  • Total Period CO2 Emissions (t): The total amount of CO2 emitted during the period. Expressed in metric tonnes
  • Average Period Fuel Burn (t): The amount of fuel burned during the period, averaged over the group of aircraft. Aircraft with no calculated fuel burn during the period will be excluded from the calculation. Expressed in metric tonnes
  • Average Period CO2 Emissions (t): The amount of CO2 emitted during the period, averaged over the group of aircraft. Aircraft with no calculated emissions during the period will be excluded from the calculation. Expressed in metric tonnes
  • Total Period Tracked fuel/emissions Aircraft: The total number of aircraft included in the calculation of fuel burn and emissions

How granular is the data?
Fuel burn and CO2 emissions can be viewed per aircraft, aggregated monthly. This is shown in figure 1 below:

Where in Fleets Analyzer can I view the new dataset?

  1. On the Trend tab in Fleets Analyzer, in the Aircraft and Aircraft Event sections.
  2. They can be selected by accessing the ADD/REMOVE METRICS option and are located under the existing ‘Fuel Usage and Emissions’ group (as shown in figure 2).
