In the next two months, our data team will implement substantial updates to the records of two key military helicopter models: the Boeing AH-64 Apache and the Boeing CH-47 Chinook.
These changes will encompass the way we show newly manufactured aircraft and those involved in Boeing’s extensive remanufacturing initiatives.
The goal is to enhance the representation of these helicopters in our fleets data, ensuring greater accuracy and value for our customers.
To enable this, we have created 5 new aircraft events in the aircraft histories:
Orders:
- Order placed for remanufactured aircraft – not yet delivered
- Order placed for remanufactured aircraft – later delivered
Deliveries:
- Delivered – remanufactured aircraft
- Delivered – remanufactured aircraft – parked
Retirement:
- Withdrawn from use – re-manufactured
During these updates, this will involve some airframes changing internal ID (FG ID) so if you use that in your data analysis, you will likely need to re-run any analysis of these types once the data re-work has been completed.
An example of the upcoming changes:
Current Record:
CH-47D msn B019/M3415 (FG ID: 151929) which started the current history as a CH-47A and shows converted to a CH-47D.
The CH-47A will remain with that FG ID: 151929 with a new last event of “Withdrawn from use – re-manufactured” and a new CH-47D record will be created with a new ID with event structure:
Order placed for remanufactured aircraft – later delivered
Delivered – remanufactured aircraft
Cirium will post again once the data rewrite has been completed.
